[The look on Akira's face is almost... fond.]

That's how it goes for all of us. [It's an almost subconscious motion, but his hand rests over his chest.] You don't "Awaken" until your heart has something to cry out over.

[To scream out against what's wrong, against the unfairness of it all. To no longer be content with the pain you're forced to either witness or bear.

Akira can still feel it like the phantom pain of an absent limb.]

Awakenings are tied to your strongest feelings, but just feeling emotion isn't always enough to tip the scales into a full one. There might be a specific science to it that none of us discovered completely, but... Just from what I observed, "resolve" seems like the thing that makes the difference to me.

[He's never had conversations like this with anyone before; not about the Metaverse, not to this extent. Not even to Morgana, when nights were spent hypothesizing on his bed. The closest he ever came was probably Akechi. Some of those talks in between slot machines almost felt like this, just covered in a dozen layers of mistruth too many.

It doesn't feel like that now, or like those bedtime conversations. He's never really had a space to ruminate like this with another person, not without it being cut short.]
