I love how redirecting the child and doing something else was probably an option

[Omori is distracted by Azathoth for a moment, the beast's auroras reflected in the boy's dark eyes. He lifts the hand that holds his knife and waves.

[Then he looks back at Maruki.]

Right to the edge. [He makes a motion, as if dipping his hands into the water.]

[The water rages upon Lake Omen's shores, but Azathoth looks like it has a tight grip. Omori isn't afraid.]
